Wayfair is hiring a strategic and results-driven Translation Operations Manager to join our UK Merchandising team. You’ll lead a global team based in London and Shanghai, manage a network of freelance translators, and optimise the delivery of high-quality, culturally relevant content across nine languages.

In this pivotal role, you’ll work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Merchandising, and Marketing to enhance our translation technology, embed localisation best practices, and drive continuous improvements in quality, efficiency, and cost.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead Global Teams: Oversee in-house associates and freelance translators, ensuring scalable, high-quality translation and localisation output across nine languages.

• Drive Translation Strategy: Implement efficient workflows and robust quality control processes to optimise speed, cost, and consistency.

• Enhance Technology & AI: Partner with Engineering and Product to evolve our internal translation platform and explore AI-powered solutions that boost productivity and quality.

• Improve Content Quality: Collaborate with Merchandising, Marketing, Product, and Engineering to raise the bar on content accuracy, tone, and cultural fit for a seamless global customer experience.

• Maximise Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities to reduce translation costs and streamline TMS processes for maximum resource utilisation.

• Mentor & Develop: Coach analysts and associates, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring:

• Leadership experience in translation operations, localisation, or global content management

• Proven success managing global teams and freelance vendor networks

• Strong project management, stakeholder collaboration, and analytical skills

• Proficiency in translation tools or TMS (e.g. Memsource, Smartling, Phrase)

• Awareness of AI/machine translation trends and tech-enabled content workflows

• Fluency in English; additional languages a bonus
