Job summary

PeoplePlus is seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to deliver City & Guilds qualifications from Entry 1 to Level 2 within a prison education setting. You will engage learners with diverse backgrounds through inclusive, innovative teaching using digital resources.

You will conduct assessments, develop ILPs, create engaging lesson plans and support learners toward examinations, while collaborating with prison staff to achieve positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Level 3 maths qualification is essential.
• Teaching qualification at Level 5 or above or willingness to work towards one.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths qualifications.
• Strong lesson planning, classroom management and learner engagement.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Functional Skills Maths qualifications from Entry 1 to Level 2.
• Conduct initial assessments and use BKSB diagnostics to identify learner starting points.
• Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
• Create engaging lesson plans that support learner progression and achievement.
• Motivate and inspire learners to reach their full potential.
• Support learners with additional learning needs and reasonable adjustments.
• Monitor progress and prepare learners for examinations and assessments.
• Promote literacy, numeracy and reading for pleasure across the prison environment.
• Work collaboratively with prison staff, support practitioners and employability teams.
