Job summary

Protocol is seeking a committed Functional Skills Maths Tutor to deliver literacy and numeracy qualifications in a prison education setting. You will teach small groups of adult learners, covering Entry Level 1 through to Level 2, and use learner-centred approaches to support progress and confidence in maths.

The role requires a Level 3 Maths qualification and a Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent, plus experience in Functional Skills delivery and robust lesson planning.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Maths or equivalent.
• Teaching qualification at Level 5 or above (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent)
• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths qualifications.
• Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate learners with varying abilities and backgrounds.
• Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Functional Skills Maths qualifications from Entry Level 1 to Level 2.
• Conduct initial assessments and identify learners' starting points.
• Develop and maintain ILPs for learners.
• Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons tailored to learner needs.
• Support learners to achieve qualifications and improve confidence in maths.
• Prepare learners for assessments and examinations.
• Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Support learners requiring additional learning support and reasonable adjustments.
• Maintain accurate learner records and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure positive learner outcomes.
