Job summary

Veolia is seeking a waste operations operator at the Marchwood Transfer Station. You will operate a front loading shovel and a 360 excavator, ensuring safe transport of waste after training and performing basic maintenance on mobile plant.

The role requires a full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to the site. Overtime is available, with benefits including holiday entitlement and access to the pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a similar operational environment
• Mobile Plant licence/s - loading shovel or 360 excavator
• Full UK driving licence and own transport due to the location of the site

Responsibilities

• Operate front loading shovel and 360 excavator to transport waste safely after training.
• Routine maintenance of mobile plant and equipment, including oils and water checks and reporting defects.
• Liaise with site personnel, contractors, tipping authorities and haulage department staff.
• Ensure correct waste types are accepted and stored correctly; report and deal with non-conforming wastes.
• Ensure outgoing weights of material are maximised.
• Assist with training of new operators.
• Unloading and loading of vehicles with waste.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £33,993.46 plus £266 per month for weekend shift allowance

Overtime is available - x1.5 for Saturdays - x2.0 for Sundays

Hours & Location

Hours - 43 hours, Saturday and Sunday 07:00 to 17:00 and Monday to Wednesday 0800 to 1600 (Thursdays and Fridays days off)

Location: Marchwood Transfer Station, SO40 4UD

What will you be doing?

• Routine maintenance of mobile plant and equipment, including oils and water checks and reporting defects.
• Liaise with site personnel, contractors, tipping authorities and members of the haulage department
• Ensure that the correct waste types are accepted and stored correctly and any non conforming wastes are reported and dealt with accordingly
• To ensure that outgoing weights of material are maximised
• To assist with the training of new operator
• Unloading and loading of vehicles with waste
