The opportunity

An opportunity exists for a Training Specialist within the Nuclear Skills Alliance (NSA). The Training Specialist provides initial and ongoing coaching and feedback, offers guidance on training-related matters, reinforces the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) methodology and instructor fundamentals, and ensures our training material and instructors utilize the best possible training methods while reinforcing Human Performance and Nuclear Safety Culture traits.

You will be passionate about making our training the best it can be, with a positive, can-do attitude and a pragmatic approach to overcoming challenges. You will have demonstrable experience in developing and delivering innovative training and support our Instructor Excellence programme.

This role is based at either Gloucester Business Park or Hinkley Point C, working on a hybrid model with 2-3 days a week on-site.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a competitive salary ranging from £45,641 to £81,263, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a company pension scheme and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle.

Benefits include enhanced parental leave, electric vehicle leasing, health insurance, product discounts, critical illness insurance, technology vouchers, gym membership, and season ticket loans.

We embrace flexibility and recognize that everyone's working needs are different. Our priority is to ensure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated wherever you are.

We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We aim for an equal gender balance, a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ community, those with disabilities, and support for social mobility.

As a disability confident employer, we will do our best to support your application. Please let us know if you need reasonable adjustments.

We foster a dynamic and inclusive environment where diverse backgrounds and experiences drive innovation. Success means different things to different people, and we support you in pursuing a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing training oversight within the Nuclear Skills Alliance
  • Acting as the training conscience; ensuring training processes adhere to company standards
  • Providing advice and guidance on relevant training matters with particular reference to Site Licence requirements, statutory regulations, and company training objectives
  • Monitoring training programme health through KPIs and programme health reports
  • Analyzing programme health via monitoring, trending, and reporting on KPIs, self-assessments, benchmarking, and observations
  • Supporting fleet initiatives/programmes, including the Instructor Training Programme, through active participation in a Training Specialist Peer Group
  • Reviewing training materials to ensure quality and adherence to standards
  • Mentoring and advising Instructors, Training Programme Owners, and Training Committee Members on the Systematic Approach to Training
  • Coaching instructors by observing sessions and providing feedback
  • Producing and delivering ongoing training for instructors, incorporating adult learning theory, remote and in-person delivery techniques, and the affective learning domain
Who you are

You will have at least an HNC qualification with experience in adult education theory and practice. A degree in a relevant subject is advantageous, as well as a desire to develop your skills further.

You will have experience deploying effective training methodologies (such as SAT). A strong understanding of quality assurance in a high-quality environment is essential, along with knowledge of training governance and oversight.

You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to advise on best practices and procedures. Building close relationships with key stakeholders to maintain the integrity of the Nuclear Skills Alliance is important.

You will be highly organized, capable of multitasking and managing priorities independently, with the ability to influence without authority, and demonstrate initiative. An understanding of continuous improvement and adaptability is also required.
