Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking a Health & Safety Standards (SHE) Training Manager in Maidenhead (Hybrid, 2 days in office) to shape national safety learning for 3,600 colleagues. This strategic governance role defines the SHE training framework, drives standards, digital learning and external provider performance, and partners with senior leaders to elevate capability.

You will own the LMS, develop blended learning and apprenticeships, and ensure compliance with NOS, IMS and industry

• Experience in SHE, competence or technical training strategy.
• Proven background in training governance and provider management.
• Experience leading the design and delivery of large-scale training programmes.

Responsibilities

• Own national SHE training & competence strategy.
• Shape technical capability and behavioural improvement.
• Lead governance of external training providers.
• Represent HMUK in MPQC and industry groups.
• Develop modern blended learning, e‑learning and catalogues.
• Own the Learning Management System and digital learning roadmap.
• Manage multiple national providers for cost, quality and compliance.
• Partner with Procurement on sourcing, contracts and performance.
• Drive KPI reporting across compliance, delivery and cost.
• Provide technical assurance to Senior SHE Leadership.
• Ensure alignment with NOS, IMS and MPA Safety by Competence standards.
• Work with operational, SHE and training teams to align training with risk.
• Influence senior leaders on competence priorities and improvement plans.

Are you an experienced training or competence specialist ready for your next strategic move? This is a rare opportunity to shape the national approach to Safety, Health & Environment capability for one of the UK’s largest construction materials businesses.

We are looking for a strategic leader in training, competence and digital learning to define and govern the SHE training framework for Heidelberg Materials UK. You will drive standards, influence behavioural improvement, and ensure the organisation remains compliant, competent and future‑ready. This is not a delivery or instructor role. It is a high‑impact governance, systems and capability leadership position with responsibility for national training standards, external provider performance, digital learning systems and alignment with industry requirements.

What you’ll lead

Strategic Leadership & Governance

• Own the national SHE training & competence strategy
• Shape technical capability and behavioural improvement
• Lead governance of all external training providers
• Represent HMUK in MPQC and industry groups

Competence & Capability Development

• Ensure SHE training matrices and competence frameworks remain legally compliant
• Develop modern blended learning, e‑learning and catalogues
• Lead SHE apprenticeships and specialist capability programmes
• Own the Learning Management System and digital learning roadmapLead system enhancements, integration and user adoption across the UK
• Manage multiple national providers for cost, quality and compliance
• Partner with Procurement on sourcing, contracts and performance

Performance, Reporting & Assurance

• Drive KPI reporting across compliance, delivery and cost
