Job summary

RTX UK is seeking a Training Designer to develop technology-led training material for defence sector clients. You will design the training architecture, follow CMDC processes, and align with JSP 822 and DSAT standards.

Role involves collaborating with stakeholders, applying adult learning principles, and ensuring EH&S compliance while delivering output in a hybrid, remote-friendly environment with occasional travel to Reading.

Qualifications

• Experience in designing training content.
• Ability to interpret technical and non-technical information for training design.
• Apply instructional design theories and adult learning principles.
• Ensure designs meet internal quality standards and best practices.
• Organised, able to work independently and in fast-paced teams.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects to deadlines.
• Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
• Able to gather information from stakeholders for media requirements.
• Eligible to qualify for UK SC security clearance.

Role & Responsibilities

Raytheon UK’s Courseware and Media Development Capability (CMDC) is looking for Training Designers to support development of our training materials.

Main duties will include:

• Design the technology-led training architecture for our customer’s training courses in accordance with CMDC production process, Development Manual and Style Guides.
• Consider, champion, and implement innovative training solutions to meet our customer’s training needs.
• Ensure all outputs adhere to Joint Service Publication (JSP) 822, Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) principles, and Project Delta documentation standards.
• Be responsible for championing and fostering a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance and continuous improvement.
• Any other duties required to complete the CMDC Training Service.

Required experience

• Experience in designing training content.
• Ability to comprehend/interpret technical and non-technical information and apply it to training design.
• Applying instructional design theories and adult learning principles to design high-quality learning experiences.
• Ensure training designs align with best practices and internal quality standards.
• Must be organised and work well both independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to use MS Office (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
• To effectively communicate with stakeholders outside of the training development team to gather technical information necessary for media requirements.
• The successful candidate must be able to qualify for SC security clearance.

Desirable experience

• Applying instructional design theories and adult learning principles to create high-quality learning experiences.
• UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
• Previous experience of developing high-quality courses for digital learning & training.
