Job summary

Capita plc, through Selborne, seeks a Training Delivery Instructor in Mechanical Engineering for HMS Sultan, Portsmouth. Role entails delivering training on ship auxiliary systems, updating materials, and assessing learners, with focus on safety and progression.

Term time-based, 37.5 hours weekly, on-site in PO12 3BY. UK Security Clearance required at SC level. Permanent, full-time position with pro-rata salary for term weeks.

Qualifications

• Competent mechanical hand skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Mechanical Marine Engineering training on ship auxiliary systems.
• Build strong relationships with customers and colleagues in the Marine Engineering Electrical area.
• Maintain and update training materials, assess coursework, provide feedback.
• Apply best practice to improve Royal Navy training programmes.
• Ensure learner safety, progression, and KPI/SLA achievement across training phases.
• Collaborate with Learning & Development to personalise learning journeys and CPD.

What you’ll be doing

• Deliver Mechanical Marine Engineering training on ship auxiliary systems in line with the Sultan Training Plan
• Build strong relationships with customers and colleagues within the Marine Engineering Electrical training area.
• Maintain and update training materials, assess coursework, and provide constructive feedback to learners.
• Apply best practice to drive quality improvements across Royal Navy training programmes.
• Ensure learner safety, progression, and achievement of KPIs and SLAs during all training phases, including simulated environments.
• Collaborate with Learning & Development teams to personalise learning journeys and maintain your CPD portfolio.

What we’re looking for

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient in the use of IT (hardware/software) within the workplace.
• Competent Mechanical hand skills.

Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications

• Any experience in Electrical Engineering would be highly beneficial

• This role is offered on a term time basis working 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will therefore be pro rata'd and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
