Job description

Fulbridge Social Care is recruiting Experienced and Trainee Residential Youth Workers to join our casual team at our children’s residential homes and Independent Living settings. We are seeking flexible, reliable, and interactive individuals eager to work in a specialist environment where full training and qualifications are provided.

The role involves providing security, guidance, interaction, and support to young people aged 11 to 18 with challenging behaviour and complex needs, within residential or independent living environments. Our goal is to create an environment that caters to their intellectual, spiritual, social, and emotional needs.

You will work with young people who have been placed into care for various reasons, with diverse disorders, behaviours, and needs. The role requires confidence, patience, and skills to make a positive impact on their lives.

Responsibilities include supporting young people throughout the day with tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, education, and shopping. You will also interact with professionals like Social Workers, Probation Officers, and Police Officers, and support young people in settings such as classrooms, courts, and police stations.

A valid driving license is essential, as you will need to drive the unit car to destinations like family contacts, schools, and social activities.

Applicants must complete an enhanced DBS check with Fulbridge Social Care and successfully finish an induction program before placements are offered.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  5. Support young people in managing their behaviour using approved skills
  6. Promote equality and acknowledge individual differences
  7. Protect service users from abuse
  8. Write accurate reports and maintain records
  9. Attend training and achieve relevant qualifications
  10. Attend work reliably and punctually, following shift patterns
  11. Stay updated with procedures and policies
  12. Ensure health and safety for yourself and others
  13. Perform any additional relevant duties

  • Ability to read, understand, and write clear reports
  • Effective communication skills with young people
  • Willingness to participate in all activities and attend destinations as needed
  • Reliability and high standard of task completion
  • Willingness to participate in training and development
  • Punctuality and reliability in attendance
  • Understanding of teamwork, health, safety, and welfare of young people
  • Knowledge of child development and learning
  • Understanding of equal opportunities and discrimination prevention
