Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council in Hamilton is seeking a Trainee Trading Standards Officer to join one of our teams. The post offers 35 hours per week and a salary ranging from £29,326 to £38,779 per year.

Ideally, applicants will have a Diploma in Consumer Affairs or equivalent (FCATS/CSCATS) and experience in Trading Standards, including advising businesses and consumers and carrying out inspections. Applicants may still apply without the qualification, subject to CTSI framework elements being

Qualifications

• Experience in a Trading Standards environment advising businesses and consumers.
• Proven ability to undertake inspections and resolve non-compliances by formal and informal means.
• Willingness to complete elements of the CTSI Professional Competency Framework if qualifications are not met.

Responsibilities

• Carry out statutory enforcement and advisory duties including inspections, advice, investigations and regulatory compliance actions.
• Process licence, registration and approval applications.
• Investigate, action and report on compliance and non-compliance; prepare and serve Statutory Notices.
