Job summary

London Borough of Sutton is seeking a Housing Management professional to deliver an integrated service to tenants and leaseholders across a 250-property patch. The role requires proactive engagement with residents, councillors, and partners, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and robust tenancy management.

The post reports to the Lead Officer, Tenancy Services, with a minimum presence in the office/on-site four days a week.

Job description

Found in zone 6 with good transport links in and out of London, Kingston is a vibrant and diverse university town which creates the rich sense of community shared across the borough and its Residents. About the Role and our Ideal Candidate

The key attributes of the role include:

  • Delivering an integrated housing service to tenants and leasehold customers. Working collaboratively with other teams, ward councillors, resident associations to achieve and sustain tenancies in sustainable communities.
  • Providing a proactive and customer focused housing management service across the borough to ensure the Council fulfils its legal and contractual obligations to residents and leaseholders.
  • Being visible on your estate, taking action to make sure our estates are safe and well maintained. Providing advice and support to residents.
  • Actively encourage residents to get involved to help shape the future of the housing management service.
  • Managing a patch of 250 properties across the borough.

The role reports directly to the Lead Officer, Tenancy Services for Landlord Services and is responsible for providing a housing management service to an allocated geographical area. There is currently no line management responsibility.

In order to successfully deliver the responsibilities of the role, you will need to:

  • Be proactive and responsive
  • Hold an educational qualification
  • Willing to obtain a Level 3 housing qualification within 2 years.
  • Have a good understanding of the scope of housing/tenancy management services
  • Understanding of Consumer Standards and Regulatory Requirements for the housing sector.
  • Be part of Housing Surgeries which are based across the borough and in the office
  • Be Numerate and have good written communication skills
  • Be able to work successfully with key stakeholders within and outside of the Council including Members, residents, businesses, communities, partner organisations and other public services
  • Demonstrate agility and adaptability in mindset and ways of working
  • Demonstrate innovation and creativity
  • Have a track record of using IT systems successfully to enhance the delivery of housing/tenancy management.
  • Demonstrate commitment to own personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the role
  • Demonstrate a high level of innovation and creativity.

The Housing Service has seen some exciting changes in the past year; taking handover of the 202 new homes on Cambridge Road Estate as part of phase 1 of the regeneration programme, welcoming 101 families as part of the small sites programme.

This position is aimed at an individual who has begun their career in housing management with a minimum of 1 years experience. The role will play a part in ensuring that the Housing Service remains regulatory compliant. As part of the role, training will be provided to obtain a housing qualification.

The post holder will be required to be in the office/ on-site a minimum of 4 days a week.
