Job summary

BUUK Infrastructure is recruiting a Fibre Field Technician to support the OFNL network across Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth and surrounding areas. The role involves maintenance of FTTP telecoms equipment, participation in a standby rota, and collaboration with NOC and field teams.

Qualifications

  • DBS check required due to going into customers' homes.
  • Driving licence required.
  • Participation in a standby rota.
  • Experience in network maintenance tasks, GPON/FTTH technology or telecom environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to NOC and Field engineering teams.
  • Participate in a call-out rota and diagnose faults during out-of-hours.
  • Contribute to delivery of OFNL services.
  • Maintain OFNL network equipment daily.
  • Perform site audits against network standards.
  • Wear PPE and act as OFNL representative for third-party access.
  • Provide remote hands for NOC engineering teams and support field engineers.
  • Create and maintain OFNL documentation.
  • Attend training to stay up to date with technologies.
  • Maintain professional conduct at all times.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for customer service and teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Display initiative and logical decision-making.
  • Follow BU-UK and OFNL procedures.

Job description

Providing support to our Network Operation Centre (NOC) and Field engineering teams. This position will also require participation in a call‑out rota to be first responders and carry initial fault diagnosis or maintenance work during out‑of‑hours periods including weekends and public holidays. Contribute to the successful delivery of OFNL services. Day‑to‑day maintenance of OFNL network equipment. Site audits against network design standards and specifications. Work safely at all times wearing relevant PPE that is supplied. Act as an OFNL representative and provide escort for third‑party access as required. Provide remote hands for NOC engineering teams. Provide support to field engineers during 2‑person activities. Create and maintain OFNL documentation as required. Attend training courses and keep up to date with relevant technologies. Always conduct themselves professionally.
