Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in Reading is seeking a Trainee Sonographer to join the Maternity Ultrasound Department and be trained into a qualified sonographer. Ideally radiographer or midwife, other backgrounds may be considered.

Work includes obstetric and gynaecology duties with flexible contracts. The post is offered under Annex 21 NHS terms; appointed at Band 6 percentage during training, progressing to Band 7 once competencies are met.

Qualifications

• Qualification in radiography or midwifery.
• Experience working with patients in a hospital environment.
• Able to communicate well and use reporting software.

Responsibilities

• Train to undertake and interpret diagnostic imaging under supervision.
• Formulate and issue clinical reports under supervision.
• Promote and encourage good professional practices in the department.
• Participate under supervision in advanced clinical-based practice.
• Observe confidentiality with respect to patient, staff and NHS information.
