Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced sonographer to perform and report a wide range of ultrasound scans within the main radiology department in Reading. You will work with a supportive team including a lead sonographer, educator, RDAs and radiologists.

The post offers opportunities for progression, including preceptorship to 8A, and the department is University of Reading affiliated with strong research ties.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered with professional registration in the UK.
• Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound is required.
• Experience of audit is advantageous.
• Good organisational and time management skills are essential.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team or individually.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise activities.
• Evidence of teaching and training skills.
• Understanding of Quality Management systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform a range of ultrasound scans within the main radiology department (note: obstetric scanning not performed).
• Report findings and make appropriate recommendations.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff as appropriate.
• Exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries.
