Job summary

Citizens Advice Mid Mercia in the heart of the community is offering a two-year, fully funded Justice First Fellowship as a Trainee Solicitor. You will train alongside three solicitors, complete SQE training, and gain qualifying work experience to become a solicitor.

We seek candidates who can understand and apply complex information, communicate clearly, and show commitment to social justice. You must have completed and passed LPC by 14 March 2027 or will have completed SQE1 by then.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand, analyse and apply complex legal or factual information.
• Clear, accurate and sensitive written and verbal communication.
• Will have completed and passed the LPC by 14 March 2027 or will have completed and passed SQE1 by 14 March 2027.
• Enthusiastic, proactive and professional with integrity and confidentiality.
• Genuine commitment to social justice, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Work on housing, debt and welfare benefits cases.
• Assist clients facing homelessness or eviction and difficult housing scenarios.
• Explain legal rights and liaise with landlords and authorities.
• Prepare cases, gather evidence, statements, and court bundles.
• Develop understanding of housing-related barriers and broader policy impacts.
• Complete an independent social-justice project alongside SQE2 studies.
