Job description

2 Years (2028 Intake) – Full time (Mon-Fri, 9:00-17.30)

Is this the start of your Capital Law journey?

At Capital Law, we offer all the legal services a trading organisation needs, working nationally and internationally. We partner with businesses of all sizes – from ambitious start-ups to global corporations – across the private, public, and third sectors.

Our firm is built on the strength of our people. We’re a team of leading lawyers and consultants who work closely with clients to provide the best possible support. Our mission is simple: to help others succeed.

Your Training Contract with Capital Law

We’re looking for exceptional candidates to join our team. As a trainee solicitor, you’ll receive first-class training and development in a supportive environment that’s committed to helping you grow. We’re passionate about attracting the best talent and actively promote diversity and inclusivity across our firm.

Our comprehensive two-year training contract is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and commercial awareness necessary to excel as a solicitor. Your journey begins with our tailored Trainee Induction Programme, designed to maximise your potential and set you up for success.

What can you expect?

During your training contract, you’ll rotate through four six-month seats across different practice areas, giving you a well-rounded experience and the opportunity to discover where your passion lies. You’ll gain hands‑on experience working on complex cases and projects, supported by a dedicated mentor and supervisor in each seat. Your rotations may include areas such as:

  • Corporate & Debt
  • Commercial & Regulatory
  • Employment & Immigration

While we try to accommodate your preferences, seat allocation is determined by business needs and availability.

Alongside your day‑to‑day work, you’ll participate in workshops, group activities, presentations, and networking events, helping you build strong relationships across the firm. You’ll also develop key skills through tailored training sessions and engage with colleagues at all levels.

Who can apply?

We welcome applications from:

  • Final-year students
  • LPC graduates are eligible to apply only if they meet the SRA's transitional arrangements for the LPC route.
  • Candidates on the SQE route

If you’re applying via the LPC or SQE route, you must have passed the LPC or SQE1 before the start of your training contract.

If you’re looking for a training contract that offers diverse experiences and values your ideas, we’d love to hear from you.

If successful, you’ll need to be living within a commutable distance of our Cardiff office (CF10 4AZ) by the time your training contract begins.

Please note that our Recruitment Team is currently reviewing applications. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, you may not hear from us until after the closing date.

First-stage interviews will consist of a face-to-face interview with HR, together with a written assessment.

Candidates who are successful at this stage will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre in February 2027. Further details will be provided to shortlisted candidates nearer the time.

The deadline for applications is midnight on the 30th November 2026. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered.

QWE

Will this role count as your QWE, and who will confirm it?

Check it against the SRA’s questions in two minutes. If there is no COLP or solicitor where you work, the SRA lets a solicitor outside confirm it: an FQPS solicitor can, from £149.
