Job summary

Precision People is assisting a well-established client in Shropshire to recruit a Trainee Saw Line Machinist. Based in Bishops Castle (SY9), you will operate an industrial machine on day shifts up to 12 hours, with a strong emphasis on quality and safety.

You should have some industrial machinery or manufacturing experience, be reliable, and be a team player. Training will be provided where required; you will monitor production, adjust cutting patterns, and maintain housekeeping and routine

The Role - Machinist

• Our client is looking to appoint a Production Machine Operative. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be fully responsible for operating an industrial machine.
• This role will be an interesting and challenging one; you will be the operator of a state-of-the-art machine. This machine runs virtually automatically but requires consistent monitoring and intervention to ensure its smooth running.
• They are looking for someone hardworking, quality-focused, with a degree of flexibility to ensure operations are maximised; this person should recognise the importance of this key role and be a team player.

Key Responsibilities - Machine Operative

• Experience of working in an industrial production environment with plant machinery, manufacturing machinery, industrial quarry processing machinery etc
• High standard of health and safety working practices
• Willingness to undertake all relevant training requirements to fulfil the role.
• Computer literacy: monitoring production numbers and making live changes to the cutting patterns issued by the production manager.
• Ability to work well in a team to achieve production goals and meet the required standards.
• Work closely with the engineering team and report any issues that arise.
• Changing tooling and other associated equipment when required.
• Housekeeping is an important factor in the smooth running of the machinery; this will be a requirement at the beginning and end of every workday.
• Basic machine maintenance: Following the machines' greasing and oiling schedule.
• Maintain good communication with the production manager.

Requirements - Production Operative

• Previous Experience within metal or wood processing, manufacturing, or an industrial machining environment would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• A hands-on, reliable and safety-conscious approach to work.
• A good understanding of the importance of product quality.
• Willingness to commit to 12-hour day shifts.
