Job summary

VolkerHighways is seeking a motivated Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the successful commercial delivery of highway and infrastructure projects while developing your technical and professional skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently studying towards a construction-related qualification and looking to build a career in quantity surveying within a leading infrastructure business.

Qualifications

• Currently undertaking or planning degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good communication and organisational abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Eagerness to develop a career in Quantity Surveying.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Previous placement, internship or work experience in construction/civil engineering.
• Working towards membership of RICS, CIOB or ICES.

Responsibilities

• Assist with subcontract procurement and tender evaluations.
• Support preparation of subcontract documentation and payment applications.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
• Assist with monthly reporting, cost tracking and forecasting.
• Support preparation of client valuations and cash flow forecasts.
• Monitor project risks and escalate issues where appropriate.
• Support the commercial delivery of highway and infrastructure projects.
• Assist with measurement, reporting and subcontractor account management.
• Develop knowledge of contracts, costs and project performance.
• Assist with procurement activities and subcontractor engagement.
• Support supplier and subcontractor management throughout project delivery.
