Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their civil engineering office in Ipswich. The role combines site visits, financial processing and supporting the Commercial team within a friendly, learning-focused environment.

Candidates with numerical ability and an interest in construction will be supported by a company-sponsored degree and ongoing training, with real progression opportunities and a clear path to professional development.

Qualifications

• Interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying within construction or civil engineering.
• Some understanding of the role of a Quantity Surveyor and commercial processes within construction.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with good attention to detail.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Previous experience within construction, civil engineering, commercial administration or estimating would be advantageous but is not essential.
• A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related subject would be beneficial, although candidates without formal qualifications will be considered.
• Willingness to undertake further training and professional development, including the opportunity to complete a company-sponsored degree.

Responsibilities

• Make site visits to carry out inspections.
• Prepare, maintain and process financial and project transactions.
• Support the Commercial and Sales team with admin tasks and ad-hoc duties.
• Analysis of project costs and preparation of monthly cost reports and commentary for any variance.
• Valuing completed work and applying for payments.
• Attend meetings onsite or elsewhere with the Site Teams, Clients, Suppliers and other parties as required.
• Use systems and processes, allowing effective measurement of commercial performance.
• Assist in provide accurate, real time, monthly reports (Cost Value Reconciliations) and final outcome forecasts
