Dorset HealthCare is seeking individuals passionate about mental health to train as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. The role involves delivering evidence-based interventions for mental health conditions, supported by experienced professionals in a hybrid working model. Commitment to patient care and continual professional development is essential.
Are you passionate about mental health? Are you a highly motivated, adaptable, and enthusiastic person? Do you like working within a friendly, dedicated team providing treatment for people experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other common mental health conditions? Continued professional development training is available.
If yes, you may be interested in training to become a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) within an NHS Talking Therapies Service.
If you meet the following criteria, we would like to hear from you:
Following training, you will need to apply for PWP accreditation with either the British Psychological Society (BPS) or the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Interviews will be held in mid-July 2025. We may close the application process early if we receive a high volume of applications.
Trainee PWPs will learn to screen patients for suitability and deliver step 2 CBT-based interventions for mild to moderate depression and anxiety. Interventions will be via telephone, video, digital platforms, psychoeducational courses, and in-person sessions.
Support will be provided by qualified and senior PWPs through supervision, as well as by University of Southampton tutors via lectures, workshops, and online learning to develop clinical skills and meet academic requirements.
The role focuses on delivering evidence-based low-intensity psychological interventions with an emphasis on excellent patient care. The role is demanding but rewarding, requiring enthusiasm, good administrative, time management, and communication skills.
Our service operates on a hybrid model, including face-to-face, base, and home working, with availability in evenings and weekends.
