Job summary

NHS Borders is seeking a proactive Band 4 Orthopaedic Practitioner to join the Trauma & Orthopaedic Service. The post supports fracture clinics, orthopaedic outpatient clinics, the Emergency Department, and inpatient trauma care during clinic hours.

Applicants should hold the BOA Plaster Certificate or have recent orthopaedic/acute hospital experience and be ready to join a structured training programme. The role is 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:00, with Annex 21 trainee pay

Qualifications

• BOA Plaster Certificate or equivalent
• Recent orthopaedic/trauma experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to delivering patient-centred care
• Willingness to undertake further training and development

Responsibilities

• Care in fracture clinics and orthopaedic outpatient clinics
• Support the Emergency Department and inpatient trauma patients during clinic hours
• Provide casting and splinting with supervision and guidance
• Develop skills through the Annex 21 training programme
