Job summary

Recruitment Helpline is seeking a motivated Assistant Steel Erector to join our on-site team across various project locations. You will work alongside experienced steel erectors, supporting day-to-day installation activities and gaining hands-on experience on residential and commercial sites.

Applicants with limited experience are welcome, provided you are eager to develop a trade, maintain a positive attitude, and commit to safe working practices. Full UK driving license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Some construction or steelwork experience is beneficial, but not essential.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Comfortable working at height and outdoors in all weathers.
• Able to work well within a team and follow directions.
• CSCS and other site qualifications can be obtained while in role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with erecting structural steel frames, beams, columns, and associated components
• Support senior erectors with bolting, bracing, and secondary steel installation
• Help organise tools, equipment, and materials on site
• Learn to read and understand fabrication drawings and site plans
• Follow all health and safety procedures and maintain a tidy working environment
• Take instruction well and gradually build confidence in managing tasks independently

Overview

The company is seeking a motivated and reliable Assistant Steel Erector to join their on‑site team. This role would be ideal for someone with construction or steelwork experience, but we welcome applicants who may have limited experience but are keen to develop a trade. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to working safely and professionally are essential. You will work alongside experienced steel erectors, supporting day‑to‑day installation activities and gaining practical knowledge across a range of residential and commercial projects.
