Are you an Endoscopy nurse looking for a new challenge, demonstrating effective leadership and management skills? If you enjoy sharing your endoscopic knowledge by teaching and developing others, and are passionate, dynamic, and forward-thinking, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities include supporting and developing the nursing and multidisciplinary teams in endoscopy, leading by example, and supporting the safe delivery of patient care during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic ablation of Barrett's esophagus using radiofrequency ablation (HALO) and Endo Bronchial Ultrasound (EBUS).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Lead in the procedure room on Endoscopy therapeutic interventions, acting as a clinical expert.
  • Perform planned care for patients independently.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based, individualized patient care.
  • Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered, in patient care delivery.
  • Maintain accurate clinical observations and act accordingly.
  • Organize and deploy staff based on ability and workload to meet patient needs.
  • Manage the correct administration and custody of medicines per Trust policy.
  • Ensure safe and timely patient management through the Endoscopy pathway, identifying needs and taking appropriate action.
  • Ensure nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Assess the needs of patients, relatives, and carers, providing information as requested.
  • Stay updated with developments in nursing and evidence-based practice.

Person specification

Education/Qualifications

  • Active NMC pin as a 1st level Registered Nurse
  • Mentorship, teaching qualification, or relevant experience
  • Recovery course
  • Endoscopy Principles and Procedure course

Experience

  • Extensive or relevant experience within the specialty
  • Ability to undertake personal development reviews
  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience in endoscopy

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Full range of Endoscopy Therapeutic competencies; organization and management skills.
  • Mentorship in practice or equivalent.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Clinical activities specific to the specialty.
  • Competent in recovering patients under General Anaesthesia.
  • Experience in ESD and EBUS/HALO procedures.
