Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is assisting a leading manufacturing business in Pontypool to recruit a Trainee Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer. This role is ideal for someone freshly qualified or apprentice-trained, seeking a long-term career in manufacturing maintenance.

You will join an experienced Engineering team, receive structured training and mentoring, and progress toward becoming a fully competent multiskilled maintenance engineer.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Completion of electrical apprenticeship or dual/multiskilled apprenticeship with electrical bias.
• Ambition to develop into a multiskilled maintenance engineer.
• Hands-on electrical experience from apprenticeship, placement or industrial environment.
• Good understanding of electrical maintenance principles and safety.
• Willingness to develop mechanical maintenance skills through training.
• Proactive, reliable and committed to health & safety.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance on production machinery, electrical equipment and site services.
• Shadow and learn from experienced multiskilled engineers to grow electrical and mechanical skills.
• Support reactive maintenance and breakdown response as competence grows.
• Assist with electrical fault-finding, repairs and routine maintenance as trained.
• Develop knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, conveyors and drives.
• Maintain reliability of site services including electrical systems and compressed air.
• Complete maintenance documentation and CMMS updates accurately.
• Contribute ideas to improve equipment reliability, performance and safety.
• Work with production teams and contractors to ensure safe plant operation.
