Job summary

Warwickshire College Group is offering a trainee post in the English & Maths department, on a three-year teacher development programme that trains and qualifying graduates while they teach. Core work is maths teaching, rising from 15 to 21 hours a week, with teacher training and assessment paperwork.

It is full-time, permanent and runs Monday to Friday, with training built into the week. Applicants need a degree and a Level 3 in maths, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Degree in any subject is required.
• Minimum Level 3 qualification in maths or related subject.
• Proficient IT and strong administrative abilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver maths teaching on a three-year progression (15, 18, then 21 hours per week).
• Complete the Award in Education and Training in Year 1 and Diploma in Teaching in Years 2–3.
• Develop teaching materials, schemes of work, planning and assessment paperwork.
• Work with a mentor from the Advanced Practitioner team and a teaching buddy.
• Engage in CPD, shadowing, team teaching and update subject knowledge.
• Undertake administrative tasks and participate in college quality processes.
• Ensure health and safety duties and Safeguard welfare of children and at-risk adults.

What the job involves

• Deliver maths teaching on a three-year progression of 15, 18, then 21 hours a week
• Complete the Award in Education and Training in Year 1
• Complete the Diploma in Teaching in Years 2 and 3
• Develop teaching materials and course paperwork, including planning, assessment, schemes of work and record-keeping
• Work closely with an assigned mentor from the Advanced Practitioner team
• Collaborate with a designated teaching buddy from the Literacy and Numeracy team
• Take part in a cross-college peer support and reflection group
• Use non-contact hours for CPD, shadowing, team teaching and updating subject knowledge
• Undertake administrative tasks for taught programmes and college requirements under the line manager or Head of School
• Engage with college quality processes, including annual lesson observations
• Meet health and safety duties under the HASAW Act and college policy
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and at-risk adults

Qualifications
