Job summary

MEMS Power Generation in the UK is seeking a Trainee Engineer to assist with generator maintenance and repair, working with a team of engineers in both the workshop and on customer sites. The role requires a practical engineering/workshop background, and an interest in how engines operate.

You will have a minimum of 2 years in an engineering environment, a full UK driving licence, and strong communication and physical fitness.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of practical experience in an engineering or workshop environment.
• Experience working with engines preferred.
• Essential: full UK driving licence; good communication skills; positive work ethos; physically fit.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Mechanical/electrical repairs and rebuilds.
• Generator service and maintenance on and off site.
• Preventive maintenance.
• Training of apprentices.
• Fault finding/diagnosis and rectification.
• Testing and inspection of equipment.
• Preparation of project specific rental applications.
• Telephone support and guidance for other employees.
• Research and development of new mechanical products.
• Maintain H&S, Quality and Environmental standards as per Regulations and Manuals.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times.

Salary: £16 - £18 per hour depending upon experience, + Overtime, Company Van + Callouts

Duration: Full Time, Permanent

Hours:Average of39.5 hours per week, 5 days on and 3 days off, 7.30am to 5pm. Working weekends and bank holidays is a requirement.

About you

You will have at least 2 years practical working experience within in an engineering or workshop environment. Experience working with engines is preferred.

It is an essential requirement to have a full drivers licence; good communication skills; positive work ethos and be physically fit.

You will assist with the undertaking of all aspects of generator maintenance and repair on a reactive and proactive basis alongside our team of engineers who have a wide range of skills; experience and knowledge within the generator industry. Work will be carried out at our workshop and depot in Alfreton and on customers premises which will include some face to face customer service.

This is an exciting opportunity for a local Trainee Engineer who is looking to develop their skills, knowledge and experience whilst working for a progressive company at the forefront of power generation.

Working outside of normal hours will be a requirement for which overtime will be paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate once the probationary period is passed.

Hours

Shift Pattern: 5days on 3days off, average 39.5 hrs per week. Shift is 7.30am to 5pm (plus call out) and overtime
