Job summary

ARV Solutions Contracts in Coventry is seeking a Trainee Design Technician to support timber roof and floor design projects for UK and Ireland clients. You will help review drawings, create 3D models and produce construction drawings for use by clients and site teams.

Reporting to the Design Office Manager, you will join an experienced team, with a clear progression path and a supportive, family-business style.

Qualifications

• A-level with good Maths and trigonometry skills; interview test will assess this.
• Strong interest in progressing in a technical, customer-facing role.
• Willingness to learn timber design and software training during probation.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings and designs of timber roof and floor components.
• Produce 3D building models and input data into CAD software.
• Prepare construction drawings for clients and site teams.
• Assist in training users on software during/after probation.
• Attend site visits and contribute to reports and software testing.

Trainee Design Technician required to join a team of experienced designers, where you will be working on structural roof and floor design solutions to clients in the UK and Ireland.

Reporting to the Design Office Manager, you will be:

• Reviewing architectural drawings and working on designs of timber roof and floor components
• Producing 3D building models, inputting architectural data into specialist CAD design software
• Preparing construction drawings for use by client and site teams
• Supporting your customers with design or software queriesOnce your 6-month training and probation period has completed, you will also be:
• Assisting in the training of software use and timber design
• Attending site visits, writing reports and testing software

About you:

• You will be within close commuting distance of the office in the Coventry area
• Ideally educated to A-level with good Maths and trigonometry skills (this will be tested at interview!)
• Keen to progress your career, working in a technical and customer supporting role
• Your working hours will be 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday but an earlier or later start/finish can be arranged to suit travel arrangements and you will have 33 days holiday per year (including Bank Holidays)
