Job Purpose:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Credit Controller to join our Finance team. This entry-level role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start a career in finance. As part of your development, we will provide support towards an AAT qualification, including study leave and full study support to help you qualify and progress.

For the right individual, there is also the potential to progress onto ACCA study support in the future, providing a longer-term route towards a professional accountancy qualification and a career within the wider Finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Raising and issuing customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner
• Contacting customers regarding outstanding invoices and overdue balances
• Processing and allocating customer payments
• Maintaining accurate customer account records
• Sending customer statements and copies of invoices
• Investigating and resolving customer account queries
• Following up disputed invoices and working with colleagues to resolve issues
• Assisting with credit-control procedures and aged debt reviews
• Monitoring customer accounts and escalating potential issues
• Supporting the Finance team with month-end activities
• Assisting with reconciliations and other finance administration
• Providing excellent customer service while ensuring outstanding debts are collected promptly

Candidate Profile:

• a genuine interest in developing a career in finance
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications with good IT skills generally and is comfortable learning new systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively, work to deadlines, and prioritise tasks.
• Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
• Some prior finance or accounting experience
• Knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP, or similar).
