Hays Accountancy & Finance is partnering with a local SME in Ledbury to recruit a dynamic Trainee Accountant. The role offers a salary of £30,000–£33,000 and a study package for AAT/CIMA/ACCA, with clear progression within a close-knit finance team.

You will support month-end duties, payroll, VAT, ledgers, and budgeting, gaining practical experience in manufacturing accounting while using Sage/Business Central/Dynamics 365 where relevant.

Your new company Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a successful and established SME that are part of a group to recruit a dynamic & driven Trainee Accountant for their site based in Ledbury, Herefordshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a close-knit finance team, where you will report directly to the Finance Manager.

You will be looking to develop your career in accounting while gaining practical experience within the manufacturing sector.

The role is varied and hands-on, involving day-to-day financial operations, through to assisting with month-end duties and maintaining accurate financial records.

The position will offer a study package for financial qualification AAT, CIMA or ACCA along with the opportunity for genuine career development.

Your new role Your key duties will involve assisting with month-end and year-end processes, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, supporting the preparation of management accounts, along with assisting with stock and inventory reconciliations.

You will support payroll administration and processing, assist with VAT returns and statutory submissions, support budgeting/forecasting processes, producing reports within MS Excel, along with supporting internal/external audit requirements.

You will be involved in all purchase ledger processes, including processing supplier invoices, reconciling supplier statements and preparing payment runs for approval.

Sales ledger processes, including processing sales invoices, credit notes, monitoring customer accounts, and credit control.

You will perform daily/weekly bank reconciliations, assist with cash flow reporting, process receipts and payments.

You will support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc duties and projects, including process improvement initiatives.

You will be given more responsibility as you progress within the position, enabling further career development.

What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this permanent Trainee Accountant role, you will have some experience within an accounting department, seeking career progression, with key attention to detail, good organisation and time management skills, along with a proactive and positive working approach.

You will have strong MS Excel skills, comfortable with financial systems, and key communication skills to partner internally/externally.

You will be studying towards AAT, CIMA, ACCA or have a keen interest to studying for a finance qualification, a team player who can use their own initiative and be adaptable to business needs.

Experience working within a small/medium-sized organisation with knowledge of Sage, Business Central or Dynamics 365 would be advantageous but not essential.
