Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to work within Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Services across South Tyneside, Sunderland or Gateshead. The role involves delivering evidence-based CBT to children and their families while undertaking CBT-PG Diploma training at Northumbria University, starting January 2027.

Successful trainees will gain supervision, contribute to service development, and join a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Experience in a CYP mental health service.
• Experience delivering assessments and treatments to children and young people and families.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and welfare for children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Deliver CBT interventions to children and young people in CYPMHS.
• Work with families from diverse backgrounds and use interpreters when needed.
• Engage in regular supervision as part of the service.
• Complete CBT training courses within 12 months during the traineeship.
