Job summary

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust is inviting applications for a role in psychological therapies. The post focuses on assessing clients for suitability for psychological interventions within the stepped care framework and on formulating and evaluating therapy programmes.

Qualifications

• Entry requirements for postgraduate diploma.
• Experience in a mental health setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions within the stepped care model.
• Make decisions on suitability of new referrals and direct or signpost accordingly.
• Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.

• Begin to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment and treatment of clients.
• Meet the requirements of the Diploma course with the planned number of client contacts and sessions per week.
• Complete data collection requirements within the service and university.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions within the stepped care model.

Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the stepped care principles and protocols, and direct/signpost unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.

Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.

Develop communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties.

Begin to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with the service and university principles.

Adhere to agreed activity relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to meet the requirements of the Diploma course being undertaken.

Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service and by the University.
