Job summary

Rapier in Barton-upon-Humber is recruiting a Driver's Mate to kickstart a driving career. You will work in a two-person crew delivering to customers’ homes and receive full training to become a Class 2 Driver.

Shifts start 4am–6am; initial pay is £13.15 per hour as a Driver's Mate, rising to £16.75 per hour when qualified, with potential OTE up to £52,260. Temp-to-Perm, with benefits and progression.

Qualifications

• A can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
• Physically fit for a demanding, hands-on role.
• Licence: maximum 6 points (no DD, CU80, or IN).
• DBS check will be required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with heavy lifting and deliveries to customers' rooms.
• Make delivery ETAs calls and log deliveries.
• Ensure items are scanned and accounted for.
• Support the driver and learn the daily Class 2 routine.
• Report parking/access issues to transport team.
• Maintain safety, timekeeping and customer service.

About the Role

You'll begin as a Driver's Mate in a 2-person crew, delivering to customers' homes:

• Assist with heavy, physical lifting and delivering items to the room of choice
• Make customer phone calls with delivery ETAs and log deliveries
• Ensure all items are scanned and accounted for
• Support the driver and learn the daily routine of a Class 2 role
• Report any parking/access issues to the transport team
• Maintain high standards of safety, timekeeping, and customer service
• Shifts start between 4am and 6am
• Expect up to 10 - 12-hour shifts (averaging 48 hours per week)
• You’ll need your own transport to get to site
