Job summary

Connect Appointments is looking for a Trainee Cheesemaker to join their established dairy manufacturing business in Gifford, Scotland. This role involves structured training across all key cheesemaking processes, progressing towards independent work as your skills develop.

The position offers a £16.82 per hour payment, on a 4-on 4-off night shift schedule from 10pm to 6am. Ideal candidates should have a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate and a genuine interest in cheesemaking.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate.
• Previous experience in a food production or manufacturing environment is advantageous.
• Show a genuine interest in developing a career in dairy and cheesemaking.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the manufacture of cheese and dairy products.
• Monitor key process parameters and report deviations.
• Operate production and packing equipment safely.
• Complete production and cleaning records accurately.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene in line with HACCP requirements.

Connect Appointments is recruiting a Trainee Cheesemaker to join an established dairy manufacturing business based in Gifford.

This isn’t a standard production role. You’ll receive structured training across all key cheesemaking processes: from milk handling and pasteurisation through to culturing, coagulation, curd handling and maturation – progressing towards independent working as your competence develops.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the manufacture of cheese and dairy products in accordance with approved recipes and specifications
• Monitoring key process parameters including temperature, time and pH, reporting any deviations promptly
• Operating production and packing equipment safely in line with Standard Operating Procedures
• Completing production and cleaning records accurately to support traceability and BRCGS compliance
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene in line with HACCP, allergen control and hygiene zoning requirements

Qualifications

• A Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate – ESSENTIAL
• Previous experience in a food production or manufacturing environment is advantageous
• A genuine interest in developing a career in dairy and cheesemaking
