Job summary

Borders Buses in Galashiels is seeking Trainee Bus Drivers to join our depot team. No prior bus-driving experience is required as we provide training and funding to gain your PCV licence, including theory and practical tests, subject to terms and conditions.

Based at the Galashiels depot, you will help keep local communities connected across the Borders. After qualification you’ll contribute to safe, reliable travel for residents and have opportunities for career progression within the business.

Qualifications

• Aged over 18 and eligible to work in the UK.
• A full, clean UK driving licence.
• At least one year’s driving experience.
• Right to work in the UK for more than two years.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Professional, dependable and safety-focused approach.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Confident to work independently.
• Live within a reasonable travelling distance of Galashiels.

Responsibilities

• Safely and professionally operate buses on local service routes
• Provide excellent customer service and a safe, comfortable journey for every passenger
• Help customers reach their destinations safely and on time
• Handle cash and card payments accurately and responsibly, where required
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects per company procedures
• Work independently while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability and professionalism
• Represent Borders Buses positively through your driving and customer care

You do not need previous bus-driving experience to apply. We will provide the training, support and funding you need to gain your PCV licence and begin a rewarding career as a professional Bus Driver. This includes arranging and funding your theory and practical tests, subject to terms and conditions.

Working in Galashiels

Based at our Galashiels depot, you will help keep local communities connected across the Scottish Borders and beyond.

Once qualified, you will play an important role in helping local residents travel safely and reliably to work, school, appointments, the shops and other destinations. You will be part of a supportive local team in a varied role where no two days are the same.

What You’ll Be Doing

Once you have successfully completed your training and gained your PCV licence, you will:

• Safely and professionally operate buses on local service routes
