Job summary

Malvern Hills District Council is seeking a Trainee Building Control Surveyor to join the Building Control team. The role involves formal training in plan vetting, site inspections and handling dangerous structures, with mentoring provided as part of a permanent contract.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, customer-focused and committed to delivering high-quality Building Control services across the South Worcestershire partnership. Driving licence and mobility are required.

Qualifications

• Candidate must understand Building Control work and its safety contributions.
• Ability to undertake site visits including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
• Committed to customer care and service delivery.
• Ability to adapt to change and improve working methods.
• Accurate recording of information and writing reports for stakeholders.
• Awareness of Building Act 1984 and Building Regulations 2010.

Responsibilities

• Plan vetting and site inspections as part of Building Control duties.
• Deal with applications (full plans/building notices), dangerous structures and enforcement as required.
• Collaborate with Malvern Hills District Council, Wychavon District Council, and Worcester City Council on development proposals.
• Contribute to delivery of high-quality Building Control service.
