We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in the position of Trainee Brick and Concrete Product Tester.

Salary starting at £25,000, to be enhanced on completion of probationary period & training plan.

This role primarily involves working in a physical test environment at our Measham laboratory, where we test products and materials used in building homes and commercial properties across the UK.

Following a successful probationary period, the role is expected to evolve as the candidate gains more experience.

The role involves applying routine test methods to set standards and procedures, including measuring dimensions and weighing sets of clay bricks, testing bricks and concrete products for compressive strength, maintaining a clean work environment, and adhering to health & safety procedures.

No previous experience is necessary; however, the candidate must be able to work as part of a team, perform tests accurately and consistently, and have a practical approach to testing raw materials such as clay and aggregates.

This position reports to the Clay Services Manager and supports the Technologist.

Your duties include but are not limited to:

• Obtaining samples for testing from the factory.
• Measuring products for dimensional accuracy.
• Weighing products to verify density.
• Testing the physical strength of products.
• Conducting tests on clays and aggregates such as sieving for grading.
• Updating spreadsheets with data.
• Maintaining clean and tidy work areas.

About you:

• Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including fluency in English.
• Good numeracy skills, computer literacy, and a methodical approach to data collection.
• Ability to work as part of a small team and independently.
• Regular manual handling of products and raw materials.
