Job summary

Specsavers in Bedford is offering a Trainee Audiology Practitioner position. You will start on the AP course, train with a Hearing Aid Dispenser mentor, and gain hands-on skills in ear care, fitting and programming hearing aids, and clinic administration.

The role supports career progression within audiology and the wider business. The store requires working 40 hours per week with some weekend shifts, and you’ll be auto-enrolled into the pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Good written and verbal English skills to communicate with customers and colleagues.
• Keen interest in self-development and willingness to further your skills.
• Familiarity with patient management systems is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Enrol on the Specsavers AP course and train under a HAD mentor.
• Assist with ear wax removal, fitting and programming hearing aids, and related clinic tasks.
• Manage clinic bookings and the scheduling/administration of the clinic activities.

Want to help the nation hear clearer than ever? Well, as a Trainee Audiology Practitioner at Specsavers, you can work alongside your partners and colleagues to help more customers with their hearing, faster. You will be enrolled onto Specsavers AP course and will train to completion with the support of a Hearing Aid Dispenser (HAD) learning valuable skills such as being able to perform ear wax removal and to fit and programme hearing aids, carry out riage services and then eventually have the chance to move on to other roles within the store or wider business. You will also be involved in the bookings for clinics and the associated administration as well as planning and scheduling side of the clinic management too. Here, your opportunities are endless.

We are looking for someone who is motivated and keen to develop a long term career within Audiology, as there is the potential to move into an apprentice Hearing Aid Dispenser (HAD) role once you have completed the AP course, offering you fantastic career progression.

Our store

Based out of our Bedford, store but will also be required to cover clinics in the Bedford Fairfield Sainsbury, Ampthil Parkside, St Neots and St Neots workstation store. You will provide first class customer serivce to our patients, once training is successfully completed.

While we don’t need you to have a degree or any specific qualifications to enrol on this programme, we do need you to have a few skills to get started here.Firstly, you’ll need to have good written and verbal English skills, so we know you can communicate effectively with our customers and colleagues. You’ll also need to have a keen interest in self-development, desire to further your skills, and then ideally a fluency in use of patient management systems (but don’t worry if you don’t have that last one).
