Job summary

Michael Page Finance is seeking a Permanent Trainee Accountant in Worthing to assist with statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies, and support audit assignments on-site or remotely for a varied client base.

You will work toward an AAT qualification with a study package, gain practical accounting experience, and handle tasks such as VAT returns, bookkeeping, and preparation of management accounts using Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and CCH.

Qualifications

• Interest in practical accounting and finance knowledge.
• Strong GCSEs/A-Level results.
• Willingness to study for AAT qualification.
• Good communication and IT skills.

Responsibilities

Description

• Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Supporting audit assignments both on-site and remotely for a varied client portfolio.
• Performing audit testing and substantive procedures under the supervision of senior team members.
• Preparing working papers and ensuring files are completed accurately and on time.
• Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
• Supporting the production of management accounts and financial reports.
• Processing bookkeeping records and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
• Preparing corporation tax and self-assessment tax computations.
• Liaising with clients to obtain financial information and resolve queries.
• Using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and CCH.
• Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Participating in professional training and working towards a recognised accounting qualification.
