Michael Page is recruiting for a Trainee Accountant in Worthing to join the Audit and Accounts team. The role involves assisting with statutory accounts, supporting audits (on-site and remotely), and preparing working papers under supervision.

The ideal candidate has a strong interest in accounting, good GCSE/A-Level results, and is eager to study for AAT. IT proficiency and experience with accounting software (Xero/QuickBooks/Sage/CCH) are valued. AAT study package is provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and Ltds.
• Support audit assignments on-site and remotely for a varied client portfolio.
• Perform audit testing and substantive procedures under supervision.
• Prepare working papers and ensure files are completed accurately and on time.
• Assist with VAT returns and production of management accounts and financial reports.
• Process bookkeeping records and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare corporation tax and self-assessment tax computations.
• Liaise with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
• Use accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and CCH.
• Maintain accurate client records and regulatory compliance.
