Job summary

South Western Railway (SWR) is building a talent pool for roles within the Service Delivery team, aiming to deliver a safe, efficient daily train plan across its network and manage relationships with operators and stakeholders. The successful candidate will coordinate incident responses, support disruption management, and communicate plans clearly during normal operations and disruptions.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within a highly pressurised operations environment.
• Experience of strategic decision-making.
• Good negotiating skills and ability to make objective decisions.
• Able to manage conflict, influence others and work under pressure.
• A thorough understanding of train planning principles and timetable composition.
• Good geographical knowledge of applicable route and wider network.
• Must have previous railway and control centre experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a safe, efficient and optimal daily train plan for operators and customers.
• Manage the performance of the daily train plan; communicate with locations and operators to minimise customer disruption.
• Develop and implement train service recovery plans to restore right time running during disruptions.
• Coordinate with Incident Management and Train Running Controller during disruptions and reinstatement planning.
• Deliver effective communications about all aspects of train service in normal and disrupted operations.
• Maintain daily records of train running information and events using the available systems.
• Manage operation of the train service to ensure rolling stock and crew resources are deployed.
• Apply the relevant service recovery plans during perturbations.
