Job description

Job Description: Train Cleaner

The role involves all aspects of Train Cleaning duties, including exterior and interior cleaning, hoovering floors, and inspecting/maintaining toilets.

Working Hours: This is a night shift role on a 12-week rota. For 8 weeks, hours are 22:00 to 06:00, and for 4 weeks, 20:30 to 04:30. The average weekly hours are 35.

Responsibilities: Cleaning the Southern Trains fleet serving Surrey & Sussex, with occasional cleaning of Gatwick Express & Thameslink trains. The role is mainly interior cleaning, with some exterior cleaning. You will work in teams of 3 or 4 cleaners per train carriage.

Physical Requirements: The depot is large; physical fitness is necessary to move around comfortably.

Contract Details:

• £15.19/hour, increasing after 12 weeks due to AWR
• Overtime available at manager’s discretion
• Potential for permanent employment after 6 months

Minimum Requirements:

• Good communication skills
• Ability to pass a Drugs & Alcohol test
• Provision of Right to Work documents
• Positive attitude and willingness to help
• Good fitness level
