Job summary

Driver Hire Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Traffic Operative to support busy transport operations in Bury St Edmunds. The role starts ASAP with a 12pm shift and 9-hour days, Monday to Friday, within a multinational transport operator’s team.

You will assist with route planning, live transport monitoring and driver communications while ensuring compliance and accurate reporting. Training and progression toward HGV/ADR may be offered after probation.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the UK road network.
• Ability to work in a fast paced transport office environment.
• Good communication skills for dealing with drivers and customers.
• Understanding of driver hours and tachograph rules.

We are looking for a Traffic Operative to start ASAP for our growing client base across the IP postcode, with all the support from our experienced Driver Hire team in Bury St Edmunds.

What to expect as a Traffic Operative

Working Monday to Friday on 12pm starts, your shift will be 9hrs long. You will be working in a busy & dynamic transport office. Reporting to the duty transport manager, the following duties will be undertaken:

• Driver briefing & debriefing
• Route & load planning support
• Live transport monitoring
• Compliance & safety checks
• Customer communication
• Administration & reporting
• Coordination with warehouse
• Problem solving

As a Traffic Operative you must

• Strong knowledge of the UK road network
• Ability to work in a fast paced transport office environment
• Good communication skills for dealing with drivers and customers
• Competence with transport management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office
• Understanding of driver hours, tachograph rules, and transport compliance
• Ability to work independently during quieter evening periods
