About The Team And The Role

The Customer Trade Marketing Team at Ocado are tasked with turning everyday groceries into extraordinary customer experiences: We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and commercially astute Marketing Manager to join our Customer and Trade Marketing Team.

We have upward of 50 campaigns throughout the year, often running concurrently. Our campaigns vary in size, from Gold seasonal events, which would be live for three or four months (e.g. Summer, Christmas) to smaller campaigns like Fathers Day.

You'll be the voice of our customers, ensuring their needs are at the heart of every campaign we do and decision we make. You'll understand our customers' motivations, their pain points, and their desires, and use that knowledge to dream up and execute innovative, fresh and exciting trade marketing campaigns. This role will be instrumental in driving customer traffic, engagement and conversion.

The ideal candidate will already be a marketing manager with direct experience of working in a channel (e.g. digital, CRM, paid media), a balance of being a creative thinker with a strong analytical mindset, have a good understanding of an online customer experience, excellent project management skills, and a passion for retail.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the end to end campaign delivery and performance. Create and own the strategic brief, plan and deliver multiple campaigns, (at least one Gold campaign a t year) ensure the right products are featured at the right time, and problem solve / action on campaign performance issues (by mobilising different channels), including post campaign reviews.
  • Customer Moments: You’ll be expected to work cross-functionally to identify the key customer trading opportunities in each event, what products and ranges should feature in our campaigns to bring them to life, our customer journeys and messaging hierarchy.
  • Cross-team working: This role is pivotal in bringing multiple teams and work streams together. Collaborate effectively with Marketing Channels in a matrix management structure (giving clear feedback and direction to other teams) You’ll work closely and influence with authority cross-functional teams from across Ocado including merchandising / eComms, commercial, buying and trade teams.
  • Develop and manage teams: Line manage a Trade Marketing Executive to plan and deliver / assist on campaigns.
  • Project Management: Own the critical path, RACIs for each campaign.

Staying Ahead of the Curve: Keep up-to-date with the latest marketing trends, technologies (AI in the workplace) and best practices, particularly within the online grocery and e-commerce landscape.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strategic and customer-led: Always start with the customer and link the customer mindset to campaigns and promotion
  • A passion for achievement; strong influencing skills, integrity and proactive drive with a strong desire to make things happen and get things done quickly
  • Proven experience as a marketing manager, preferably within the e-commerce or grocery industry and experience of owning a marketing channel(s)
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and best practices
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with a passion for analysing results and making data-informed decisions.
  • Experience managing junior teams members, fostering their professional growth through coaching, mentoring, and providing regular feedback
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative marketing ideas.
  • Passion for food and the online grocery shopping experience is a plus
