Job summary

SIG Roofing, the UK's leading roofing merchant, is recruiting a Trade Counter Assistant/Yard Operative on a part-time basis in Hove. You will deliver first-class customer service at the counter and assist in yard operations, working closely with the warehouse team to ensure orders are picked and packed accurately.

The role requires good communication, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to handle face-to-face and phone inquiries.

Qualifications

• Ability to engage with customers and have some sales experience.
• Some knowledge of warehousing processes.
• Manual Handling experience.
• Experience in the construction industry, and ideally have product knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers at the Trade Counter and over the phone, providing first class service.
• Assist warehouse team with picking, packing, and maintaining tidy premises.
• Support yard operations as needed.

We are currently looking to recruit a Trade Counter Assistant/Yard Operative who will provide first class customer service to all customers ‘over the counter,’ and undertake Yard Operative duties as and when required on a part time basis.

This is a part time role working 21.75 hours over Wednesdays (11.30-4.30) , Thursdays (7.00-4.30) and Fridays (7.00 0 4.00).

What you’ll be doing:

As Trade Counter Assistant & Yard Operative, you will be the face of SIG and will be required to engage with customers both over the phone and in face to face. This is the ideal role for an outgoing and personable candidate who has the confidence to take customer orders and provide key product information to customers visiting our busy Trade Counter. Working closely with the warehouse team, you will have good knowledge of warehouse processes as you will be required to assist from time to time, with picking the correct products and packing orders and keeping the warehouse tidy.

What you’ll bring:

• Ability to engage with customers and have some sales experience
• Some knowledge of warehousing processes
• Manual Handling experience
• Experience in the construction industry, and ideally have product knowledge
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• To be dynamic and motivated
• To hold a forklift licence (desirable) Training can be given.
