Job summary

SIG Roofing, the UK's leading roofing merchant, is looking for an Assistant Branch Manager to support branch operations across the trade counter, yard and admin tasks. You will help drive sales, manage stock and deliveries, and mentor a service-driven team.

You will assist the Branch Manager, maintain strong customer relations, and contribute to growth opportunities while upholding health & safety standards. Counterbalance FLT licence is a bonus with training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales or customer service within construction or building materials.
• Proven team leadership or supervisory capability.
• Strong communication and IT skills (Microsoft Office, databases).
• Counterbalance FLT licence considered a bonus with training available.

Responsibilities

• Assist Branch Manager in smooth, profitable branch operations.
• Support achievement of sales and margin targets across the branch.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• Oversee stock control, pricing strategies and timely deliveries.
• Champion health & safety culture and ensure compliance with standards.
• Maintain vehicles, perform pre-shift checks and support branch infrastructure.
• Lead by example and develop a motivated, service-driven team.
• Identify growth opportunities and respond to competitor activity.
• Be hands-on at the trade counter, yard, or in admin support.

Assistant Branch Manager at SIG Roofing What does the role involve? You'll be a supportive leader, empowering the team and contributing to a culture of collaboration and growth. In this role, you'll assist the Branch Manager in the smooth and profitable running of the branch, with involvement in all areas of the business-from sales and service to health & safety and team motivation. You'll also step up to manage the branch in the Branch Manager's absence. What you'll be doing:

• Supporting the delivery of sales and margin targets across the branch.
• Building strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Ensuring efficient stock control, pricing strategies, and timely deliveries.
• Championing a positive health & safety culture, ensuring compliance with all standards.
• Helping maintain vehicles, pre-shift checks, and branch infrastructure.
• Leading by example and supporting a motivated, service-driven team.
• Assisting in identifying growth opportunities and responding to competitor activity.
• Being hands-on and flexible-whether on the trade counter, in the yard, or admin support.
• Sales or customer service experience, ideally in the construction or building materials sector.
• Good understanding of roofing products (preferred but not essential).
• Team leadership experience or supervisory capability.
• Strong communication and IT skills (Microsoft Office, databases).
• Confidence in working toward targets and providing excellent service.
• A Counterbalance FLT licence would be a bonus-but training can be provided.
