Job summary

Artifex Interior Systems seeks a Trackside Quality Technician to act as the on-site quality representative at the customer facility. The role operates on a 3-shift rotation (afternoon, morning, night) and requires rapid containment, inspection, and problem resolution on the production line.

You will align inspection standards with customer operators and quality engineers, ensure reference parts are used for conformity, and drive corrective actions with suppliers to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• ONC (or equivalent) in Q/C Techniques.
• Familiarity with customer requirements and quality standards.
• Knowledge of FMEA’s and control plans.
• Understanding of IATF16949 and ISO 9001 standards.
• Experience with process and product audits.
• X-rite colour measurement experience.
• APQP understanding.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Strong communication across levels of the business.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
• Ability to generate informative data.
• Team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Contain and drive swift resolution of on-site quality issues at the customer facility.
• Collaborate with customer operators, quality engineers and Trackside team for inspection standards.
• Ensure master samples and reference parts are available for production conformity.
• Communicate quality alerts and containment actions on the line.
• Escalate risks promptly and transparently.
• Initiate quick and permanent fixes to quality problems.
• Provide timely feedback to supplier on defects and trends.
• Support line trials and 8D problem solving.

Trackside Quality Technician

We have two roles available which will be based onsite at the customer. Please note this position will be on a 3-shift rotation, alternating weekly between afternoons (14:00-22:00), mornings (06:00-14:00) and nights (22:00-06:00).

Main purpose of the job:

To act as the on-site Quality representative at the customer facility, providing real-time quality containment, inspection, and problem resolution directly supporting Trackside. The role ensures supplied product meets all customer, specification and quality standard requirements, while rapidly responding to quality concerns, coordinating corrective actions with the supplier plant, and supporting continuous improvement.

Main missions and results:

• Provide immediate on-site containment and drive resolution of internal and external quality issues occurring at the customer facility.
• Work closely with customer operators, quality engineers, and team leaders Trackside to align inspection standards and support smooth production flow.
• Ensure approved master samples and reference parts are available Trackside and used as the inspection benchmark for production conformity.
• Implement, communicate, and verify adherence to Quality Alerts and containment actions on the line.
• Escalate quality risks promptly and transparently.
• Initiate temporary/permanent fix to quality problems.
• Provide timely, accurate feedback to the supplier plant on defects and trends.
• Support line trials.
• Global 8D reporting – using multifunctional team support.
• Support structured problem-solving activities (e.g. 8D).
• Identify recurring defects and drive improvement opportunities.
• Support refinement of inspection methods, control plans and visual standards.

Preferred skills and experience:

• ONC (or equivalent) in Q/C Techniques.
• In depth familiarity with customer requirements and quality standards.
• Working knowledge of FMEA’s and control plans.
• Understanding of IATF16949 and ISO 9001 standards.
• Process & Product Audit experience.
• X-rite colour measurement.
• APQP understanding.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings.
• Good communicator at all levels within the business.
• PC skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
• Able to generate informative and accurate data.
• Team player.
