Job summary

Artifex Interior Systems is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead product quality from design through to production, ensuring adherence to quality standards and customer satisfaction. You will be the main focal point for quality issues, coordinating with internal teams, suppliers and customers on ISIR, PPAP and QA activities.

You'll drive containment and corrective actions, develop Control Plans, perform capability studies, and support audits and continuous improvement across automotive plastics

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Quality Engineering in Automotive 1st Tier.
  • Degree, HND, HNC, IQA or equivalent.
  • Previous plastics experience preferred.
  • Ideally exposure to Jaguar and Land Rover.
  • Experience of customer and automotive industry systems and procedures including IATF16949, ISO9001, APQP, PPAP etc.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Analytical with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Flexible & adaptable.

Responsibilities

  • Act as main focal point to the customer/internal/supplier for all quality issues during the program life, from initiation to End of Life.
  • Understand customer requirements/expectations in detail, communicating with the internal team ensuring the requirement is fully understood; applying this understanding to support quality and cost performance objectives.
  • Communicate quality issues, risks and performance clearly and honestly, providing objective input to support decision-making.
  • Project manage product quality requirements through ISIR, capability studies, AAR, etc in support of NPI, APQP & PPAP.
  • Define, specify and support the project management, manufacture & introduction of the necessary test equipment and gauging to satisfy the quality requirements.
  • Define & optimise the measurement techniques to deliver a stable & capable production process utilising SPC and support DOE activities when required.
  • Support design reviews and prototype builds.
  • Lead team in preparation of Control Plans and support D/PFMEA reviews as appropriate and document output using the necessary systems defined in NPI, APQP, PPAP, and company/customer procedures.
  • Support production team training in relation to the customer expectations and quality requirements.
  • To take responsibility for recording, progressing, responding and closeout of customer concerns utilising 8D or other problem-solving techniques as required.
  • Support Supplier APQP and supplier development and improvement.
  • Responsible for management and reporting of customer specific KPI's related to Reject PPM and CAR performance.
  • Conduct Internal and external audits.
  • Support Launch as appropriate through PPIR reports, Interim PSW and alerts.
  • Monitor warranty acceptance rates and maintain response to pallets within identified timing.
  • Conduct negotiations to correct warranty billing.
  • Manage open warranty projects and maintain zero aged open current model projects.

Quality Engineer

Main purpose of the job:

Responsible for all customer quality issues, providing proactive support and response. Support with ensuring that the products produced meet quality standards required to minimise quality costs and maximise customer satisfaction, whilst ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to.

Main missions and results

Preferred Skills And Experience
