Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in York is seeking a Town Planner to join a well-established planning consultancy. You will manage a range of planning projects, provide professional advice to clients and support projects from feasibility through to determination.

Qualifications

• A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
• Experience working in a planning consultancy or local authority.
• A sound understanding of the UK planning system, planning policy and development management.
• Experience preparing and managing planning applications and associated documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
• A MRTPI status, or progress towards chartership, would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, submitting and managing planning applications across a range of development sectors.
• Producing planning statements, appeal statements and supporting planning documentation.
• Undertaking planning policy research and assessing development proposals against local and national planning policy.
• Liaising with local planning authorities, clients, consultants and other key stakeholders.
• Managing project deadlines and ensuring planning submissions are delivered to a high standard.
• Advising clients on planning strategy, development potential and the wider planning process.
• Supporting senior colleagues on larger or more complex projects where required.
