Penguin Recruitment is assisting a well-established planning consultancy in York to appoint a Senior Town Planner who will handle a varied caseload, provide strategic advice and lead projects from feasibility to determination.

You will manage client relationships, work with authorities and stakeholders, mentor junior staff and contribute to business development, with scope for ownership of key projects and progression within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning or related discipline.
• Proven experience in a planning consultancy or local authority environment.
• MRTPI chartership or strong commitment towards achieving it.
• Strong understanding of UK planning legislation, policy and development management.
• Experience managing planning applications and delivering projects independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence to advise clients and engage with senior stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Commercial mindset with proactive approach and contribution to business growth.

Responsabilités

• Managing and coordinating planning applications from feasibility through submission and determination.
• Preparing and reviewing planning statements, appeal documents, planning appraisals and supporting reports.
• Providing professional advice on planning policy, development management and strategy.
• Managing client relationships and liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and stakeholders.
• Undertaking site appraisals and identifying planning opportunities and constraints.
• Supporting delivery of complex planning projects and advising clients on achieving planning permission.
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members.
• Contributing to business development and strengthening client base.
