Job summary

Major Recruitment Oldbury is seeking a Toolroom Operative for a busy technical centre in Oldbury. You will support production by operating toolroom equipment, using CNC and manual machines, and handling press tooling with attention to detail.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety, meeting deadlines, and contributing to continuous improvements while liaising with suppliers and contractors as needed. UK work eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in press and shear tool manufacture, maintenance and fault finding.
• Experience with CNC and manual machining including surface grinding, milling, turning, fixturing and wire EDM.
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings and work to tolerances.
• Well organised, multi-skilled, self-motivated, and professional.
• Good timekeeping and attendance.
• Responsible for achieving own objectives and team goals.
• Able to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
• Computer literate and able to record information effectively.
• Attention to detail; accuracy is paramount.
• Can do attitude and ability to communicate at all levels.
• Willing to progress skillset on new equipment and machining methods.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK; sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

• Operate Toolroom equipment to a high standard.
• Operate Forklift Truck and Overhead Crane to assist daily duties and deliver tooling to production.
• Ensure breakdowns are covered promptly to minimise downtime.
• Aim for right-first-time output on all tasks.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers when additional support is needed, including timescales and costs.
• Maintain health and safety compliance and company procedures.
• Follow verbal and written instructions and set procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and KPI targets.

Job description

Major Recruitment Oldbury are delighted to be recruiting for our local Oldbury based client who are seeking a Toolroom Operative to join their busy technical centre.

Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.00pm with half hour lunch break each day and 7.30am to 12.30pm with no lunch break on Friday of each week

This role is of key importance to the continued growth and development. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience within a busy Toolroom environment with the ability to work under pressure. The individual will be expected to support the day-to-day production activities in the most efficient manner, working with a team to provide both manufacture of new parts and conduct repairs and maintenance to support the various manufacturing divisions.

Duties and tasks will include:

• Operate Toolroom equipment to a high standard
• Operate a Forklift Truck and Overhead Crane to assist with daily duties whilst also enabling tooling to be delivered to production - training will be provided
• Ensure as part of the team, breakdowns are covered in a timely manner so that the production downtime is kept to a minimum
• Aim for a "right first time" approach to all work carried out
• Liaise with contractors/suppliers where required and when additional support is needed, inc. agreeing timescales and costs
• Maintain awareness and ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, housekeeping standards and Company rules and procedures
• Follow verbal and written instructions and work to set out procedures
• Seek continuous improvement related to the business KPI's and as part of the team, contribute towards improved performance and the overall improvement of the business.
